Somatic Movement Guide & Integrative Healer
guided by the wisdom of Nature and Spirit.
I’d like to go beyond a standard bio and share my meandering story with you. Why? Because you are allowed to change and experiment. As a creative being, you may be feeling the heaviness of the day-to-day grind of modern life and feel as though your inner fire has died out permanently. It's my hope my story will ignite a little spark in you, to begin that shift your soul has been craving.
Our bodies often know it's time for a change before our minds do. What is your body telling you? Where do you feel heaviness? What are you ready to release, and what are you ready to invite in? Keep this in mind as you read.
I am a creative soul that has experimented with many paths including theatre, music, art and clothing design. I've worked many jobs to support my creative endeavors, from custom framing, to landscaping, to educational programming at a botanical garden.
My path to restorative wellness began after spending the better part of a decade living with chronic pain in my shoulders. Despite being in pain, I wanted to keep moving, and taking a 200-hour yoga teacher training seemed like a good way to go deeper into movement and self-care. It was intense, and one of the best choices I’ve made.
By going deep into training, I began to recognize that my fruitless soul-searching through different jobs and projects was what ultimately needed to shift. But it was my body that would end up showing me what was holding me back, years later.
Over the years I became less artistic and creative. I was feeling worn out, and months would go by between my creative projects. My creative fire was becoming a pile of ash. As someone who had always loved creating and trying new things, I wondered if this was just me getting older and less energetic, and thus a fact of life.
Being the problem-solving type, I didn't want to accept that as fact. I had a good self-care practice, but I was feeling the pull to go beyond maintenance. I needed to dig deep, and I needed a teacher. Animism as a spiritual practice intruiged me because of its nature-based approach, but I had no idea it would be the powerful missing link I was looking for.
Before I started exploring the Medicine Path with my teacher Angela Prider, I had a very casual, disconnected spiritual practice. Angela helped me reconnect with my instincts and core being through Animism and the Medicine Spiral. The alignment with the rhythms of nature was a logical and natural fit for healing and growth. I witnessed the truth that the more we walk with the rhythms of nature, the more easeful life becomes.
On my healing journey, I discovered I was always living with sense of scarcity in the back of my mind. The fear of not being enough or making enough money was gathering emotionally in my womb. The womb is considered in many cultures and practices to be a creative centre in the body. A healthy womb means healthy creative flow. This explained a mysterious physical pain and muscle tension I'd been living with, that doctors couldn't identify as a problem in my lower abdomen.
As I worked on healing this part of my body, I was beginning to re-connect with dance, as if my body knew what it needed already. My work led to training as a Dance as Medicine guide, a potent journey that weaves together science-based somatic practices and nature-based spirituality.
I had fully reignited my dimming flame, and now had the tools to never let it go out again.
My personal practice of animism, somatic dance, and personal ritual is the container that holds what I've learned and guides what I teach. My mission is to help you reconnect with your creative fire through a holistic restorative practice that I've named the Sacred Repatterning Practice.
This practic isn't just moving your body. It's body, mind and soul. It's healing through somatic connection and nervous system repatterning. It's being open to a bit of magic and mystery. It's staying curious, so you can interact with the world in a way that is meaningful for you.
Are you feeling the urge to move your body more consciously, and expore a spiritual connection with nature? To repeat from above, our bodies know it's time for a change before our minds do. What is your body telling you? What are you ready to release, and what are you ready to invite in?
